Child Support Evader: Adam Cardenas

CHILD SUPPORT EVADER: ADAM CARDENAS By Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott Owes: $29,213 Last Address: San Angelo, TX Occupation: General Laborer Born: 05/13/75 Height: 5’ 3” Weight: 150 Color of Eyes: Brown Color of Hair: Black Race: Hispanic Attorney General Greg Abbott needs your help to find Child Support Evader Adam Cardenas, one of the Most Wanted Child Support Evaders in Texas. Cardenas was added to the Attorney General’s Top Ten List of Child Support Evaders in December 2006. He owes more than $29,000 for the support of his 13-year-old daughter, who lives in San Angelo with her grandmother. In September 1995, Cardenas was ordered to pay $130 per month for his young daughter’s care. He did not make a single payment. After numerous warnings by the court, Cardenas received jail time in 2001 for falling more than $10,000 behind on his payments. The next year, an arrest warrant with a $1,500 cash bond was issued after Cardenas failed to appear at a child support enforcement hearing. Due to interest that accrues on unpaid child support, Cardenas owes $29,213. Investigators from the Attorney General’s Office have searched the state for Cardenas. He is believed to be living in the San Angelo area. Anyone with information on Cardenas’ whereabouts is urged to contact the Attorney General’s Evader Hotline at 1-866-EVADERS (382-3377). Child Support Evaders are being singled out because they have the ability to take responsibility for their children, but refuse to do so. Incarceration is the only option for parents who flagrantly ignore a court’s order to pay child support. The Attorney General’s Office helps parents who lack the ability to pay child support by referring them to job training and employment services.
