AUSTIN - Texas Attorney General John Cornyn, as part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, today announced ten events to raise awareness of sexual assault issues across the state. "I strongly support the vigorous prosecution of sexual assault criminals," said General Cornyn. "But we need to increase the awareness of sexual assault issues to prevent these crimes from occurring in the first place," he added.
Local sexual assault programs and the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault (TAASA) have been organizing press conferences, marches, candlelight vigils, seminars and other events. Participants in these events will focus the community's attention on sexual violence, share problems and concerns, and discuss sexual assault prevention.
