Grandmother gets tough with her deadbeat son

AUSTIN - Texas Attorney General John Cornyn today announced the arrest of Ricky Earl ("Rico") Hall for failure to pay court-ordered child support. Hall made the Attorney Generalís Top Ten Evader List for owing $27,674 in delinquent child support payments and interest.

"The Top Ten Evader List is part of my get tough policy on deadbeat dads. In this case, it took the concern of the grandmother to get her son to do the right thing," said Attorney General Cornyn. "I thank her for encouraging her son to face his parental responsibility."

On July 2nd, Attorney General John Cornyn unveiled the Evader List which contained ten Texans, including Hall, wanted for failure to pay court-ordered child support. Hallís mother saw a news report about her son and the other Evaders. She told her son about the Attorney Generalís Top Ten Evader List and asked him to contact the Attorney Generalís Child Support office. Hall called the Dallas Child Support office and agreed to come to the office. Deputies from the office of Dallas County Constable Aurelio Castillo then arrested Hall upon his arrival at the office.

The Attorney Generalís office works with local authorities to arrest and incarcerate delinquent noncustodial parents. Delinquent and difficult to locate parents are candidates for the Attorney Generalís Top Ten Evader List.
