David Rhone arrested in Seattle, Washington

AUSTIN - Texas Attorney General John Cornyn today announced the arrest of child support evader David Rhone, formerly of Kerrville, who owes $49,619 in child support for five children involved in five separate cases in Kerr County. Rhone's case is the fifth resolved since the Attorney General announced his most recent list of the ten most wanted evaders in January.

"We have now brought to justice five of Texas' most wanted child support evaders. My office will continue working with law enforcement officials to send the message to all deadbeat parents that we are committed to finding them and to making them live up to their responsibilities, or suffer the consequences," Attorney General Cornyn said.

Rhone was arrested last night in Seattle by the Federal Bureau of Investigation's fugitive apprehension team on five felony warrants; four for criminal non-support of a child and the fifth for sexual assault. The arrest was made possible by tips from informers generated by the publicity following Attorney General Cornyn's announcement of the Evaders. Rhone is currently being held in a Seattle jail and will appear at an arraignment hearing later today. He will be returned to Kerr County to face the pending charges.

For a noncustodial parent to be placed on the Evader page, there must be a court-ordered obligation with delinquent support in excess of $5,000 and an arrest warrant issued. The location of parent must be unknown and the parent has not made any payments in the last 6 months. The parent must not be involved in bankruptcy proceedings or receiving welfare benefits. To make information public, the custodial parent must sign a confidentiality waiver and supply a picture of the delinquent parent.
