CORNYN TO ARGUE CASE BEFORE FIFTH CIRCUIT COURT OF APPEALS
AUSTIN - Texas Attorney General John Cornyn will participate in oral arguments today in the Jones, et al. v. Bush, et al. case before the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans.
The hearing begins at 11 a.m. Attorney General Cornyn will be representing 32 Texas presidential electors in their capacity as state officials.
Today's hearing involves an appeal of U.S. District Judge Sidney A. Fitzwater's order last Friday in Dallas in which he ruled that the plaintiffs had no legal standing to bring suit challenging the right of Texas presidential electors to vote for both Gov. George W. Bush and Secretary Richard Cheney.
