STATEMENT BY ATTORNEY GENERAL CORNYN REGARDING DISMISSAL OF TWO FEDERAL LAWSUITS RELATED TO REDISTRICTING
AUSTIN - Texas Attorney General John Cornyn had filed motions to dismiss, which were granted today, in the cases of Dorothy M. Lee, Molly Woods, plaintiffs v. State of Texas, et al and J.B. Mayfield, et al v. State of Texas, et al.
"This is a victory for the State of Texas because it allows the Legislature to do its job, free from interference of a federal court. My responsibility is to protect the Legislature's right to perform this important duty. We filed similar motions in other pending cases and are optimistic they, too, will be dismissed."
