During a cooperative effort with the Texas Department of Public Safety Special Crimes Service, investigators with the Attorney General’s Fugitive Unit arrested Louis Perez, 41, on Wednesday afternoon at a construction site in North San Antonio. In 1997, Perez was convicted of indecency with a 16-year-old girl. On Thursday, investigators arrested Derrick Sutton, 30, who was found hiding from authorities in the closet of a San Antonio apartment. Sutton was convicted of molesting two young girls in 1997. Both men were wanted on parole violation warrants.
Attorney General Abbott started the Fugitive Unit in early August after the Texas Department of Criminal Justice reported nearly 200 child sex offenders on parole could not be located. Abbott’s investigators have arrested 43 sexual predators in less than six months.
"Our collaborative efforts with law enforcement agencies in Texas has been instrumental in our success." Abbott said. "There is no greater importance than the innocence and safety of our children and we won’t stop until we catch every one of these dangerous individuals.
Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for Fugitive arrests. If you have information on any of the fugitives listed on the Attorney General’s Web site, call 1(800) 252-TIPS (8477).
