Please fill out this online form to file your open records complaint with the Open Records Division of the Office of the Attorney General. All complaints must be based on requests submitted to a governmental body under the Public Information Act. Once you complete this open records complaint form, you will be able to upload necessary supporting documentation.

In order to file a cost complaint, you are required by section 70.8(b)(2) of the Texas Administrative Code to submit a copy of the original request for information and a copy of any correspondence from the governmental body stating the proposed charges. Additionally, a cost complaint must be received by the Open Records Division within 10 business days after the person becomes aware of the alleged overcharges. If a cost complaint is not received within the required time frame, the complaint will be dismissed as required by section 70.8(b)(4) of the Texas Administrative Code. 

This online form may not be used to appeal redactions a governmental body makes under sections 552.024, 552.1175, 552.130, 552.136, and 552.138 of the Government Code. To learn more about redactions visit the Redactions to Public Information page.
