Use January to help spread the word that human trafficking is not tolerated in Texas.  Below are some ways you can help:

  • Participate in the National Human Trafficking Awareness Day on January 11 by wearing blue and sharing your picture on social media.  #wearblueday #TexansAreNotForSale #endhumantraffickingTX.

  • Join in the Texas Blue Sand Project—a great outdoor project and free way to get involved in the movement to end this hideous crime.    Help us send the message that this crime will not be tolerated in Texas. We can prevent trafficking victims from falling through the cracks if we all take the time to educate ourselves about the warning signs of trafficking. Get blue sand from your local craft store, spread it around to fill in the cracks of the sidewalk, post a photo and tag it with #TXBlueSandProject.  We encourage you to challenge friends and colleagues on social media to do the same.

  • Participate in our High School Art and Writing Contest. The Texas Human Trafficking Prevention Task Force is launching its first annual art and writing contest for high school students to raise awareness about the realities of human trafficking. The contest runs from January 1 to January 31, in honor of National Human Trafficking Awareness Month. Get the contest flyer and application by emailing [email protected]

  • Watch our video, Be the One. Educate yourself about how to watch for signs of trafficking by watching our video, Be the One.

  • Watch our webinar on January 26 at 11 am to learn about efforts across the State of Texas to address Human Trafficking. We will discuss Texas’s Strategic Plan, with an update on what has been done and what is to come in 2022. Register by emailing [email protected].
