A law enforcement agency that submits to a local prosecuting attorney a report stating there is probable cause to believe an identified person has committed a Chapter 20A Penal code offense, the law enforcement agency shall simultaneously submit a copy of that report to the Texas Attorney General.

This reporting is mandatory pursuant to Chapter 402 of the Texas Government Code and Chapter 20A of the Texas Penal Code (updated and effective on September 1, 2025).

Using the webform, below, a law enforcement agency representative will be able to provide the Attorney General’s Office with important data regarding the agency, person providing the information, etc., and the ability to upload the offense report. The following information will be required on the webform:

  • Date Report Submitted to District Attorney’s Office
  • Law Enforcement Agency Name
  • Offense/Case Number
  • Name of Primary Officer/Detective
  • Primary Officer/Detective Contact Number
  • Primary Officer/Detective Email
  • Law Enforcement Agency Records Telephone Number
  • Law Enforcement Agency Records Email
  • County in which Suspect was Arrested
  • County in which the Case was Filed
  • Whether a DA or ADA was staffed/briefed and the Name of that DA or ADA.

This form MUST be submitted for EACH suspect accused of a Chapter 20A offense for which the case was submitted to a local prosecuting attorney.

Upon submission of the data and offense report, an email will be sent confirming a successful submission.
