The Fugitive Apprehension Unit made several noteworthy arrests last week.
In Galveston County, Michael Lynn Almanza was arrested on March 15 in Hitchcock. Almanza had an outstanding warrant for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child issued by the Galveston Police Department. The Unit made the arrest while working with the Gulf Coast Violent Offender Task Force. Almanza is a confirmed Texas Syndicate Gang Member.
In Travis County, Adriean Dewayne Benn was arrested on March 16 in Austin. Benn had an outstanding warrant for Murder, a first degree felony, issued by the Austin Police Department. The Unit made the arrest while working with the United States Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force.
In Smith County, Chanda Rea Camp was arrested on March 15 in Flint. This arrest was part of an ongoing investigation and request for assistance from the Texas Anti-Gang Unit (TAG). Camp was part of a nine-person investigation developed by the TAG Unit. Camp is a known associate of the Rolling 60’s Crips Gang but is not a confirmed gang member. Camp had an outstanding warrant for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety. After Camp was arrested, the Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force secured the residence and perimeter while a search warrant was obtained. An unknown amount of liquid methamphetamine was recovered. Charges will be filed by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
