AG Paxton Leads Six-State Coalition on Brief in Support of Religious Liberty
“The government lacks any and all constitutional authority to interfere in the internal administrative affairs of the church; such an intrusion is in fact strictly prohibited,” Attorney General Paxton said. “The First Amendment exists in order to preserve the people’s right to shape their own faith and advance their church’s mission. This, by necessity, includes managing the church’s financial assets and deciding how, when, and by what principles those assets should be invested or spent. For the judiciary to step in is to put the weight of law behind one theological divide and force the court in the position of creating religious doctrine.”
AG Paxton Files Petition in Continued Fight on EPA Overreach
“This Rule requires expensive and excessive restrictions that will damage not only our economy, but the livelihood of citizens across the state with little to no effect on the environment,” Attorney General Ken Paxton said. “It is clear that the EPA has disregarded state-specific plans and successful environmental action in favor of continuing to expand their regulatory power over states. My office will continue to defend our state from the EPA’s harmful, overreaching regulations.”

AG Paxton Leads Multi-State Coalition in U.S. Supreme Court Amicus Brief Against Abusive Patent Litigation
“The Federal Circuit’s misinterpretation of the patent venue law undermines public confidence in the judicial system and has, as it was once described, turned the Eastern District of Texas into an intellectual property ”˜speed trap,’” Attorney General Paxton said. “Patent trolls know full well that the cost of litigating cases there makes it cheaper for many companies to just pay them to go away. That’s why it’s so important for the Supreme Court to reverse the lower court.”
AG Paxton Joins Multi-State Coalition Urging Prompt Senate Confirmation of Judge Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court
“In short, we are convinced that, as the next Supreme Court Justice, Judge Gorsuch will be committed to resisting unlawful government overreach, respecting the democratic process, and protecting individual liberties,” Attorney General Paxton wrote. “The Senate should respect the will of the voters in this last election by confirming President Trump’s choice without delay.”
AG Paxton Files Amicus Brief to Fight for Religious Freedom
“Religious freedom for America’s military men and women, including many Texas citizens, is at stake in this case, making it vital for a review by the U.S. Supreme Court,” Attorney General Paxton said. “It is unacceptable for the government to flatly prohibit a common form of religious activity and face no scrutiny under the RFRA. The free exercise of religion is as significant and equal as other individual rights, and those imposing a burden on this right must be held accountable.”

AG Paxton Joins 14-State Coalition Asking the Trump Administration to Immediately Repeal the Obama Administration’s Unlawful Expansion of the Endangered Species Act
The Obama administration abused the limits of its office when it expanded the power of unelected bureaucrats to kill economic development on private property. One can only imagine how such unbridled authority would affect the men, women, and children who depend on that property for their financial security. This is nothing more than yet another end run around Congress by a president who is desperate to establish his environmental legacy by any means, even if it destroys the livelihood and investments of every day American families.”

Synthetic cannabinoids, known as Kush or synthetic marijuana, are illegal in Texas.
