AG Paxton Asks 5th Circuit to Uphold Texas’ Sanctuary Cities Law

“I am encouraged by the judges’ responses to our arguments that Senate Bill 4 is lawful, constitutional and a public safety issue,” said Attorney General Paxton, who attended the hearing in New Orleans. “Sanctuary policies risk the safety of law enforcement officers and the safety of law-abiding Texans by releasing dangerous criminals back onto our streets. I am hopeful the 5th Circuit will side with the rule of law and give our state the right to fully enforce Senate Bill 4 and protect our citizens.”

AG Paxton Praises Actions by President Trump and Congress to Rescind the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Unconstitutional Arbitration Rule

“We’re fortunate to have a president and a Congress who are faithful to the Constitution. They recognize that the CFPB was unlawfully constituted, and that the Constitution does not permit its unelected director to unilaterally impose his will on our economy,” Attorney General Paxton said. “I am confident that our arguments would have prevailed in court, had the case progressed that far. The next step is for Congress to do away with the CFPB altogether.”

I hope the Court will hold the responsible ACLU lawyers accountable for their conduct.”

“Today marks the beginning of a historic trial in Texas, where we’re defending Texas’ legal right, authorized by Senate Bill 8, to protect the basic human rights and dignity of the unborn,” Attorney General Paxton said. “Senate Bill 8 reasonably prohibits live dismemberment of babies still in the womb, a brutal, gruesome and inhumane procedure that involves an abortionist tearing a fully formed child apart limb by limb until its death.”
