Attorney General Ken Paxton today announced the launch of a public service campaign for Child Support Awareness Month in Texas. In a public service announcement (PSA) recorded exclusively for TV and radio stations across the state, Attorney General Paxton shares information about the services the Child Support Division (CSD) of the Office of Attorney General provides to Texas families and their children.

“Helping a child along life’s journey takes a lot, and children deserve the love and financial support of both their parents,” Attorney General Paxton says in the PSA.

The CSD works with parents, both custodial and non-custodial, to encourage cooperation and provide understanding about a process that touches the lives of 1 in 4 Texas children. Last year, the CSD set a record by collecting more than $4 billion in child support for the state fiscal year that ended August 31, 2016. The child support collections benefited 957,000 Texas families. This year the division is on track to surpass its record and provide needed support to more Texas families.

“I want to thank and celebrate the moms and dads out there doing everything they can to support Texas’ most precious resource—our children,” Attorney General Paxton says at the end of the PSA.” I’m proud of the work my office does on behalf of the millions of families we serve.”
