AG Paxton Protects Texas Property Owners in Settlement with Federal Government Over Obama-Era Land Grab

“This was nothing more than a desperate attempt at a parting gift from President Obama to radical environmentalists at the end of his presidency,” Attorney General Paxton said. “The Obama administration bypassed Congress to implement rules designed to perpetrate land grabs, kill energy projects and block economic development. I'm pleased the Trump administration will reconsider the rules and I am confident they will ultimately be rescinded.”

This lawsuit was about standing up for homeowners in Carson County and Texas voters.”

AG Paxton Praises 5th Circuit Ruling to Uphold Texas’ Sanctuary Cities Law

“I'm pleased the 5th Circuit recognized that Senate Bill 4 is lawful, constitutional and protects the safety of law enforcement officers and all Texans,” Attorney General Paxton said. “Enforcing immigration law prevents the release of individuals from custody who have been charged with serious crimes. Dangerous criminals shouldn't be allowed back into our communities to possibly commit more crimes.”

AG Paxton Defends Texas Legislature’s Foster Care System Reform at the 5th Circuit

“The directives laid out by the District Court are misguided and dangerous, and would reverse the progress Texas has made since the Legislature enacted changes to the system last year,” Attorney General Paxton said. “Addressing concerns regarding the foster care system should be done by the people's representatives, not an unelected federal judge and the court's appointed masters who imposed their own unrealistic vision.”

AG Paxton Joins 55-Member Coalition Urging Federal Legislation to Allow Full Restitution to Victims of Child Pornography

“As the Supreme Court recognized, digital images of each child victim are trafficked worldwide, and there may be thousands of defendants found to possess each victim's image,” Attorney General Paxton and his counterparts wrote in a letter to House leadership and the House Judiciary Committee. “As a result, victims are only able to receive a small amount of restitution from each defendant and must pursue thousands of cases in order to receive full restitution. Preventing victims from collecting full restitution is unjust to those harmed by the scourge of child pornography. This legislation is vital to protecting victims and our communities.”

AG Paxton Leads 13-State Brief Supporting President Trump’s Authority to Appoint CFPB Director

“The existing framework leaves American workplaces vulnerable to rules that may rely on incorrect information and assumptions that are political in nature, inconsistent or not based on expertise,” Attorney General Paxton said. “The CFPB was operating in an unaccountable and unauthorized fashion, and their rogue behavior cannot go unchecked.”
