AG Paxton Announces Lawsuit Against Major Opioid Manufacturer Purdue Pharma for Violation of Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act
“My office is holding Purdue Pharma accountable for fueling the nation's opioid epidemic by deceptively marketing prescription painkillers including OxyContin when it knew their drugs were potentially dangerous and that its use had a high likelihood of leading to addiction,” Attorney General Paxton said. “As Purdue got rich from sales of its opioids, Texans and others across the nation were swept up in a public health crisis that led to tens of thousands of deaths each year due to opioid overdoses.”

AG Paxton’s Consumer Protection Division Stops Sales of Unlawful and Potentially Dangerous Contact Lenses at 37 Retailers and Distributors in Texas
“My office's contact lens sweep is a reminder to Texans to safeguard their vision by using only contact lenses prescribed for them by a licensed practitioner,” Attorney General Paxton said. “We will continue to take appropriate action against retailers and businesses that endanger consumers by selling unlawful lenses. “States have discretion in implementing the Medicaid Act, including in setting qualifications for providers,” Attorney General Paxton wrote. “Texas and the Healthy Texas Women program should not be penalized through the continued withholding of federal funds merely because Texas has exercised the authority that federal law has granted to it—namely, the authority to refuse to be a conduit for channeling taxpayer funds to abortion providers pursuant to state law.”

Our coalition is confident it will prevail with its lawsuit to end DACA, but in the meantime, the federal government must be enjoined from issuing or renewing any DACA permits under this unlawful program.”

AG Paxton Leads 7‑State Lawsuit Challenging the Unlawful Obama-Era DACA Program
“Our lawsuit is about the rule of law, not the wisdom of any particular immigration policy,” Attorney General Paxton said. “Texas has argued for years that the federal executive branch lacks the power to unilaterally grant unlawfully present aliens lawful presence and work authorization. Left intact, DACA sets a dangerous precedent by giving the executive branch sweeping authority to ignore the laws enacted by Congress and change our nation's immigration laws to suit a president's own policy preferences.”
